Meeting- The Regular Meeting will begin at 6:30 PM. Orvis guide, Ray Otullich, from Stone Ridge will present a pre meeting talk and demonstration of striper flies and how to fish them on the Hudson River. Following his talk we will hold a brief business meeting and then have a power point presentation by our guest speaker. Ray Ottulich, a New York native, has been fishing since he was 12. Living for 24 years in Montana, he was senior guide at Dave Blackburn’s Kootenai Angler situated on the blue-ribbon Kootenai River in northwest Montana. He helped to pioneer float fishing on British Columbia’s Elk River and guided trips on the Flathead, Clark Fork, and Big Hole Rivers. He has written for Fly Fishing the West, the, and the outdoors column for the New York Times. He served on the Montana Fish Wildlife and Park’s Kootenai River Management Committee, and as Kid’s Day Fishing Program Fly-Fishing Instructor, and was president of the American Fishery Societies award-winning Kootenai Fly Fishers FFF. Ray’s clients include Sports Illustrated former editor, Nick Nicholas; Fly Fisherman magazine’s former western editor, Dave Engerbretson; author Peter Kaminsky; film director Fred Schepisi; and actors Aidan Quinn and Liam Neeson. This will be an excellent program by a friend and local guide. Look forward to your attendance.
