On Wednesday September 16th, conditions permitting, CMTU is organizing a Chapter Night on the stream. If you are interested please meet at the Esopus Creel parking lot at 5:30PM for a brief (socially distant) meeting before we spread out on the stream for an evening of fishing. Esopus Creel is located at 5579 State Route 28 Phoenicia, NY next to Woodstock Brewery.
All members and friends are welcome.
Since we can’t gather together in person to plant riparian trees right now, we’d like to encourage some social distant conservation. Going fishing or just for a walk near a local river or stream? Net some litter on your way to dispose of properly. Post a photo of your net litter and tag us @catskillmountainstu in Instagram to be entered to win a sweet custom net from craftsman Michael Butts.

You have to have a public account and post your photo as a post, not just a story, by 11:59 pm EST Wednesday, June 30th 2020. One entry per account. Winner chosen at random. Don’t forget to tag us so we can find your photo!

Leslie Zucker and Adam Doan of AWSMP to Speak about Work in the Esopus Creek Watershed
Adam Doan (of Ulster County Soil & Water) and Leslie Zucker (of Ulster County Cooperative Extension), the Program Managers for the Ashokan Watershed Stream Management Program will be speaking about ongoing projects and issues in the Esopus Creek watershed. If you are new to the chapter, the AWSMP is an important partner with TU in our work to protect Esopus Creek. Our annual Earth Day tree plantings are done on AWSMP reclamation sites, and the program provides us with most of the trees and shrubs. In recent years, the AWSMP has done a great deal of work to help Esopus Creek recover from the effects of Tropical Storm Irene in 2011 and has done much to reduce sources of turbidity in the creek. For more information about the program, see their website: http://ashokanstreams.org/. Leslie and Adam’s presentations are always very informative, and they are crucial to helping us set productive goals for our conversation efforts.
I created a for sale and swap area for you guys to unload some of the stuff we’ve told our wives and girl friends is just on loan. If you want to post, PM me and I’ll give you access. Remeber that anything for sale must meet Facebook’s regulations in that regard. That means no firearms, or weapons of mass destruction. Please adhere to this.
Sunday the Catskill Mts. chapter will have our Fly Tying Round-table. It is Sunday at Kenco on route 28 from 1 to 4 PM.

Guide Rylie Lake to Speak at the January Meeting
Guide Rylie Lake will be our speaker at our first meeting of the new
decade. Rylie is a guide on the Delaware System, and was recently

Catskills which also featured CMTU’s own Bert Darrow.
The Delaware River is the premier trout stream in the Eastern United States, so come and hear Rylie unlock its secrets.
You can also get some tying tips from Rylie on the DirksOutdoors channel on YouTube. Just go to YouTube and search “Rylie Lake.”

Election Notice Our annual election will be held at the January meeting. These are technically our 2019 elections, but we had to postpone them because the November meeting was cancelled.
