Ross.\u00a0 Over two summers Mr. Ross and his assistants observed and documented the health and behaviors of trout populations above and below the Shandaken Portal in the Esopus Creek.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 His research is a part of a larger multi-year collaborative research effort on aquatic habitat in the Esopus Creek with partners from USGS, NYS DEC, and NYC DEP.\u00a0 Students from Ulster County Community College have also participated as summer research interns on this effort.\u00a0 Additional support and funding for this work has come from the Ashokan Watershed Stream Management Program and Trout Unlimited.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0 presentation, titled <strong>\u201c<em>Anthropogenic stream alteration:\u00a0Effects on brown trout habitat, behavior and physiology,<\/em><\/strong> <strong>will take place on Saturday, February 4 from 1:45 to 3:00 in the Student Lounge, Vanderlyn Hall, Ulster County Community College, 491 Cottekill Road,\u00a0Stone Ridge, NY 12484.\u00a0 Refreshments will be served.\u00a0\u00a0This event is Free and open to the public.\u00a0 Space is limited so please RSVP by calling Bob McCormack, Cornell Cooperative Extension at (845) 688-3047, ext 3; or via email rbm232@cornell.edu<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Ashokan Watershed Stream Management Program promotes a coordinated approach to stream protection and management within the Ashokan Reservoir Watershed, which covers portions of Ulster and Greene Counties in New York.
