The New York State DEC&#8217;s Esopus Creek Fisheries Management Plan highlights the importance of understanding where trout spawn and how these habitats can be protected.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Catskill Mountains Trout Unlimited (CMTU)<\/strong> is organizing a stream-wide redd survey to:<\/p>\n<p>&#x2705; Identify active trout spawning habitat<\/p>\n<p>&#x2705; Support future conservation and restoration projects<\/p>\n<p>&#x2705; Improve angler education and awareness<\/p>\n<p>&#x2705; Help protect wild trout populations for years to come<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>WE NEED YOUR HELP!<\/h2>\n<p>The success of this survey depends on volunteer participation.<\/p>\n<p>Whether you&#8217;re an experienced angler or simply interested in conservation, your help can make a difference.<\/p>\n<h3>Event Details<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Meeting Location:<\/strong> NYS DEC Fishing Access Site on Mount Pleasant Road<br \/>\nBehind the Emerson Resort<br \/>\nAt the location of Bert Darrow&#8217;s commemorative bench<\/p>\n<p><strong>Check-In:<\/strong> 9:00 AM<\/p>\n<p>Survey teams of 2-3 volunteers will be assigned to stream reaches.<\/p>\n<p>&#x2714; Maps and survey instructions provided<\/p>\n<p>&#x2714; No previous survey experience required<\/p>\n<p>&#x2714; Conservation-minded volunteers encouraged<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>What to Bring<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Waders<\/li>\n<li>Wading boots<\/li>\n<li>Weather-appropriate clothing<\/li>\n<li>Water and snacks<\/li>\n<li>Enthusiasm for trout conservation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Some survey reaches may require wading.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>Register Today<\/h2>\n<p>Please register in advance so survey teams can be organized efficiently.<\/p>\n<h3>Registration Link<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/tu.myeventscenter.com\/event\/Catskill-Mountains-Tu-Esopus-Creek-Redds-Survey-133264\">https:\/\/tu.myeventscenter.com\/event\/Catskill-Mountains-Tu-Esopus-Creek-Redds-Survey-133264<\/a><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>Post Survey Event<\/h2>\n<p>A post-survey event will be held at Westkill Brewery after noon for all that are interested. This training gives instruction on how to use the TU \u00a0Red Survey app: <a tabindex=\"-1\" href=\"https:\/\/cmtu.us12.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=d1310411f723a387aa3669971&amp;id=ee476bf920&amp;e=ec6b9c8a8a\">https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=vdAKhp2HT6 <\/a>that will be use in the survey.<\/p>\n<p>Note that Red Survey App is not a mobile app itself, but rather is a \u2018Survey\u2019 within the mobile app called\u00a0Survey123 for ArcGIS.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s how to prepare your phone for the survey:<\/p>\n<p>From your iPhone\u2019s App Store or your Google Play Store download and install ArcGIS Survey123.<\/p>\n<p>When you open ArcGIS Suvey123 login using the option \u201cContinue without signing in\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On the next screen in the ArcGIS Sruvey123 app use the search window to input this: <a tabindex=\"-1\" href=\"https:\/\/cmtu.us12.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=d1310411f723a387aa3669971&amp;id=61756f84c0&amp;e=ec6b9c8a8a\">https:\/\/arcg.is\/0u5vm<\/a><\/p>\n<p>This will import the TU Redd Survey into your phone.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Please do this before the day of the event.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you need assistance loading the ArcGIS Survey123 app or the TU Redd Survey after watching the online training and\/or reading these directions, email <a tabindex=\"-1\" href=\"mailto:catskillmountaintu@gmail.com\">catskillmountaintu@gmail.com<\/a><\/p>\n<p>On the day of the event, we will have printed survey sheets in case that are needed but prefer to assign survey teams with at least one person that can use the app.<\/p>\n<p>Note that you will not need a cell signal to use the app. A cell signal is not needed for GPS to map the locations.<\/p>\n<p>In the unfortunate event the weather makes the rivers and tribs unsafe we will cancel the event. \u00a0 Any cancellation will be posted on the web site <a tabindex=\"-1\" href=\"https:\/\/cmtu.org\">cmtu.org<\/a> and email provided when you register.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>Protect Spawning Trout.
