Ed Ostapczuk to speak about Edmun William Sens<\/strong>

ED OSTAPCZUK dedicated\u00a0his book The Wanderings Of A Mountain Fly Fisher<\/em> to Edmund William Sens, a little known but influential Catskill fly tyer\/fisher.

Gary LaFontaine credited\u00a0Sens with developing several early caddis fly imitations. In fact, LaFontaine wrote, \u201cThe initial attempt at the caddis pupa was the innovation of Edward Sens.\u201d

At our May 22 meeting Ed will tell us more about this little known fly tyer and fly fisher who frequented\u00a0the Catskill streams.<\/p>\r\n

Anyone who holds Esopus Creek dear in their hearts knowns Ed Ostapczuk. Ed started\u00a0flyfishing for Catskill trout in the 1960s. He joined Trout Unlimited\u00a0in 1969 and has been actively involved ever since. He is a member of the Ashokan-Pepacton Chapter and author of the chapter’s monthly newsletter, Blue Mountains Trout News.<\/p>\r\n


In 1982 Ed received Trout Unlimited\u00a0National\u2019s Trout Conservation Award. And in 2018 the Catskill Fly Fishing Center & Museum recognized Ed as a\u00a0Catskill Legend<\/a>.
He has published articles and books on trout fishing. His most recent book \u00a0The Wanderings Of A Mountain Fly Fisher<\/em> was published in 2022.<\/p>\r\n<\/div>\r\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
