Volunteer Opportunity: 2013 Ulster County Fair July 30th through August 4th

2013 Ulster County Fair July 30th through August 4th

Our chapter will have a booth at the Ulster County Fair this year and we need your help. The fair is a great opportunity to spread the word about TU and our mission. It’s a chance to raise awareness of conservation issues and local streams, promote the work of TU and its local chapters, increase awareness of the chapter—and to grow membership.

The conservation committee has made arrangements with the Federated Sportsman of Ulster County to share part of their booth with a Trout Unlimited table at the Ulster County Fair this year. We are looking for volunteers to help staff the table from Friday August 2nd through Sunday August 4th. More days are possible if we get a lot of interest.

Here is a sample of some of the things we plan to have at the table
– Brochures about Trout Unlimited and local chapter activities
– Sample copies Stream Explorers ( http://www.streamexplorers.org/) a youth oriented TU site and newsletter
– Information on Trout in the Classroom
– TU Membership forms
– Raffle of a copy of “Trout Fishing in the Catskills” by Ed Van Putt
– Information highlighting local advocacy issues. (Invasive species, water quality, Fracing, etc…)
– Signup sheet for future Chapter fly fishing and fly tying classes

In addition, we will be helping the Federated Sportsmen with their annual trout fishing pond (800 gallon tank) helping kids learn to enjoy fishing.

Please send an email to Ted Hoover catskillmountaintu@gmail.com if you would like to volunteer and let me know what time slots you may be able to cover at the Fair.
